SENIOR ACCOUNTANT (m/f)

📍Location: Benghazi, Libya

Job Description:

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing accounting processes, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and preparing reports for management purposes. This position involves managing a team of accountants and financial officers, monitoring liabilities and receivables, payroll processing, treasury functions, as well as assisting the financial manager in preparing consolidated reports and managerial analyses.

The role requires advanced knowledge of accounting software (preferably Odoo), excellent proficiency in MS Excel, systematic work approach, and a high level of accuracy.

Department: Finance / Accounting 

Reports to: Financial Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Supervising and leading the work of accountants and financial officials
Ensuring compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting deadlines
Mentoring and training junior staff to enhance their professional skills
Monitoring general ledger, reconciliations, and postings
Tracking obligations to suppliers (AP), receivables (AR), payroll processing, and treasury functions
Assisting in the preparation of consolidated financial reports and managerial dashboards
Communication and collaboration with internal and external partners

Requirements:

University degree (BSc) - Accounting, Finance, or related field
7-15 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance
Mandatory fluency in English (spoken and written)
Advanced knowledge of accounting software (preferably Odoo) and Microsoft Excel
Experience working with databases and financial records
High organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
