This position is fully remote, allowing you to bring your best from wherever you are.
Playnetic is growing, and we're launching a brand-new
Skilled and Casual Games studio. This is your chance to be the
first hire, the one who lays the technical foundations, builds the team, and sets the direction for our new game development division.
The role
We're looking for an
Engineering Manager who is equal parts
Architect, Team Builder, and Hands-on Engineer. You'll work directly with our
CTO to design the roadmap, choose the right tools and tech stack, and bring our concepts to life. It's a
greenfield opportunity with a lot to figure out, and we need someone who thrives in that kind of environment.
If you've built something from
scratch before, whether in a startup, a new studio, or an internal division, this could be the perfect challenge for you.
What You'll Be Doing
- Shaping the studio's tech strategy by defining the roadmap, evaluating platforms, and making architectural decisions.
- Rolling up your sleeves by coding, prototyping, and testing out ideas alongside the team.
- Building and leading a team by hiring, mentoring, and setting the engineering culture.
- Collaborating with product and design to bring concepts to life and iterate on ideas.
- Creating something brand new in a highly innovative, proof-of-concept-driven environment.
What We're Looking For
- 7-10+ years of experience in game development, ideally across different sectors.
- Strong Unity skills or a background in mobile game development (C++/C#).
- Experience leading teams, whether in a startup, a growing studio, or an internal project.
- A builder's mindset, someone who is excited by the unknown and loves solving problems.
- Technical versatility, with familiarity in AWS, Java-based RGS, and mobile development best practices.
- An eye for innovation, able to test, validate, and shape new game concepts.
What makes this exciting?
- Be the first hire, build the team, shape the culture, and have a direct impact.
- Greenfield project, no legacy code, no baggage, just a fresh start.
- Well-backed and ambitious, Playnetic has serious plans for growth.
- Work how you work best, fully remote, flexible working, unlimited holidays.
Interview process
- Recruiter intro call – A quick chat to understand your background and motivations.
- Technical discussion – Meet with our CTO to dive into your technical experience and problem-solving skills.
- Studio leadership – Final conversation with key stakeholders from the studio team.
How We Work & Our Benefits
Flexible working hours – Flexible working at Playnetic is actually flexible. No core working hours, work how you work best. We operate a common sense and goal-driven approach that helps you and us track success.
Unlimited holidays – We respect the importance of work-life balance, which is why we believe in unlimited holidays. The only thing we ask is that you take at least 25 days.
